Welcome to Holy Trinity Fr. Bork!

Welcome to Holy Trinity Father Vincent Bork!

Fr. Bork is coming to us from St. Rita Church in Alexandria. Fr. Bork was born in Evansville, Indiana, graduated from Notre Dame University and then earned a doctorate in physics from Washington University in St. Louis. He taught at Christendom College in Front Royal before entering Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

After his ordination to the priesthood in 1995, he served as parochial vicar of St. Michael Church in Annandale as his first assignment as a priest. He has spent the last twenty-five years at many parishes all around the diocese and we are excited to welcome him to Holy Trinity as parochial vicar.

Please be sure to say hello and give him a warm welcome!

Middle school hike!

“Contemplating the beauty of creation inspires us to recognize the love of the Creator, that Love which ‘moves the sun and the other stars’.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI

If you are in grades 6, 7, or 8 … or you know someone that is, please consider joining us on October 24 at Prince William Forest Park for a middle school hike! You’ll need to sign-up to save a spot, and all of the event details (packing list, times, etc.) can be found on the sign-up, here:

Friends are welcomed, but we need to be sure we have enough adults to take everyone…compliant parents and volunteers, please consider joining us! The sign-up link above has more details on this, too. And please email Paul with any questions: youthministry@holytrinityparish.net.

We hope to see you there!

Ignite, St. Thomas’s, Spark, and GSG!

Just a reminder that there are a few youth ministries’ options this week. All high schoolers are welcomed at Ignite, St. Thomas’s, Girls Small Groups, and Guys Small Groups, any week, so please feel free to invite and bring a friend! The same goes for all middle schoolers being welcomed at Spark, so please feel free to invite and bring a friend anytime!

We are also in need of volunteer adult leaders, those willing to help lead by their presence and sharing their love for Jesus with our parish’s awesome high school and middle school teens… please email Paul to learn more!

Also, if you’d like to be added to either the high school (grades 9-12) or middle school (grades 6-8) email lists, to hear about these ministries and more throughout the year, as well as upcoming events, please email Paul: youthministry@holytrinityparish.net.

Here’s more for this week:

The Passing of Fr. Jim Shelton (June 16, 1933 – July 29, 2020)

This morning Our Merciful and Loving God called Fr. Jim Shelton to Himself. Fr. Shelton was 87 years old. He came to Holy Trinity in early 2011. Despite various health challenges in recent years, he was as active as he could be in his priesthood.

I will write more on Fr. Shelton in the near future. Please remember him in your prayers. It is our hope the next nine days to pray the Rosary for him each evening. Details regarding his Funeral Mass will be forthcoming.

God bless
