In the last few days I have been thinking about St. Joseph and asking him for guidance and protection a bit more than I normally do. Is there a particular virtue of St. Joseph that strikes you? He had many.
The one I often think of is silent strength – which I guess isn’t just one virtue but a combination: humility, faith, self-awareness, confidence and courage. So, I guess I kind of blew up that question up above?! O well, there it is.

Therefore, whoever breaks one of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
These are the concluding words of our Gospel for today’s Mass. They are a sober reminder from Our Lord of our opportunity and responsibility to pass on Jesus’ teachings clearly and fully. Which leads me to our discussion for today.
If you were to ask most Catholics whose feast day falls on March 17th, they would answer St. Patrick – all Irish would!
If you were to ask most Catholics whose feast day falls on March 19th, they would hopefully answer St. Joseph – any Italian would!
But, how about March 18th?

God is good, all the time.
When I was assigned at a previous parish, I lived with an African priest from Uganda who used to say the above phrase a good amount. It is true!
Our Lord is the all merciful, all loving God. The Father Who loves each of us as a son or daughter. The Son Who Died on a Cross for each of us, such is our great dignity. The Holy Spirit Who continually grants us His grace and strength in good times and in bad. This is our God.
