Virginia elections this fall are for every seat in the state assembly. After a court-ordered re-drawing of state districts, all 100 delegate and 40 senate seats are up for election.
As Christians, we have a tremendous opportunity this fall to elect persons who stand for truth and natural law. We are able to elect those that will protect human life from conception to natural death. We are able to elect those who will protect (unborn) children from death, children from trafficking, children to know their dignity as a son or a daughter. We are able to elect those who will maintain religious liberty: that we may live and speak as Christians without our consciences being violated in the workplace.
Our Diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life (arlingtondiocese.org) as well as the Virginia Catholic Conference (vacatholic.org) has tremendous resources for us to know our candidates’ stands on the above topics and more. May we avail ourselves of them that we may elect those candidates who will stand and defend truth and natural law. (From Fr. Vander Woude’s Column)
