On June 27th, 2001 then Bishop Loverde established the parish of Holy Trinity in the northernmost part of Prince William County. The founding pastor was Fr. Francis Peffley who had been ordained a little over ten years. His vision, interaction with families, evangelical spirit and organizational skills set Holy Trinity parish on a clear path to provide a Catholic culture and aid its members to grow close to Our Lord through His Mother.

On May 28, 2021 our ‘good Catholic’ president Biden released his Budget proposal for 2022. It includes a measure, which is unprecedented, to abolish the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment, voted as an amendment in 1976, restricts taxpayer dollars from being used for abortion – except rape, incest and life of the mother (not ideal, but trying to save as many babies as possible was Henry Hyde’s thought). This budget promotes and makes possible more abortions.

It was a joy to see many of our First Holy Communicants with some of our recent Confirmandi participate at the front of the procession. It was good for us to publicly process and profess our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

If you find that you are unwilling or unable to abandon your advocacy for abortion, you should not come forward to receive Holy Communion. To publicly affirm the Catholic faith while at the same time publicly rejecting one of its most fundamental teachings is simply dishonest. Heeding this perennial call to conversion is the only way to live the Catholic faith with integrity.

The most important person on earth is a mother.
She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral.
She need not.
She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral –
a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body…
The angels have not been blessed with such a grace.
They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven.
Only a human mother can.
Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature;
God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation…
What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this; to be a mother?
