January 22, 1973 saw seven ‘educated’ men declare unborn babies are less than human. The Catholic Church has always taught that a human being begins to exist at conception.

March for Life – Supreme Court
Thank you to those who helped make the Christmas Masses beautiful and reverent: Mr. Trevor Rowland and the choirs that spent many hours preparing for Christmas; everyone that decorated the church; the ushers, lectors, and altar servers who gave of their time generously. Finally, thank you for your cards, gifts and spiritual bouquets for the priests. It is a gift to be a part of Holy Trinity.

Sr. Marie Benedict of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist is offering a mini retreat on Friday, January 7th from 9:00 – 12:30 for the women of Holy Trinity. We’ll begin with Mass, share a light buffet style breakfast and receive two talks as well as a period of Adoration. RSVP is appreciated so we can plan for food space. Contact relevent@holytrinityparish.net by January 4th if you plan to attend.
We are very much looking forward to the mini retreat on Friday with you all! There has been a change of plan, due to uncontrollable circumstances for Sr. Joseph Andrew. The hardship of air travel currently, along with the surge of covid cases nationwide makes it impossible for her to come to Virginia at this time.
Good news! Sr. Marie Benedict, of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, has agreed to lead the retreat at the last minute. Spread the word, we still have space for more attendees.
*Donations are appreciated the day of, to help cover the cost of the food and Sister’s stipend. There is no set fee, please only donate if you feel called to.
*This is a child-free retreat with the exception of nursing babies.
New Year 2022 – Fr Jacques Filippe
On behalf of Fr. Bork and Fr. Carr we hope all of you have begun the new year with peace and joy.
How is 2022 shaping up?! I mean in our minds as we look forward to another year of God’s grace in our vocations, in reception of the sacraments, etc. How many opportunities for joy! How many opportunities for personal growth whether good habits or skills!
Yet, how often do we project our fears on the future? How often do we worry about a future scenario? The following quote may help. It is taken from Interior Freedom by Fr. Jacques Philippe:
“To be free of the burden of the future, and the past, we need ‘re-education’. Here are some commonsense points that can help.
Things seldom happen as we expect. Most of our fears and apprehensions turn out to be completely imaginary. Difficulties we anticipated become very simple in reality, and the real difficulties are things that didn’t occur to us. It’s better to accept things as they come, one after another, trusting that we will have the grace to deal with them at the right time, than to invent a host of scenarios about what may happen – scenarios that normally turn out to be wrong. The best way to prepare for the future is to put our hearts into the present. In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples they will be hauled before tribunals, and then he adds: ‘Settle it therefore in your minds, not to meditate beforehand how to answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.’
Projecting our fears into the future cuts us off from reality and prevents us from dealing with the present situation as we should.”
Just one of many poignant, practical teachings from Fr. Jacques Philippe!
God bless
